Author: Margaret Laird Like other forward-thinkers willing to follow wherever the premise ALL IS MIND may lead her, Mrs. Laird found herself propelled into the fast currents of modern thought to produce Christian Science Re-Explored ? the most important presentation of Metaphysical Science since Mary Baker Eddy?s day. Published in 1965, Christian Science Re-Explored was written from Mrs. Laird?s personal and spiritual experience. Copies are available from The Institute of Metaphysical Science. Following are some excerpts from CSR: P. 50 "Mind does not create; Mind reveals, discloses, reflects; and since Mind is infinity, it is forever turning back on itself?.As scientists we do not believe in a giver or a receiver of good. Science is the discernment revealing the infinitude and variety of Good to be the nature of each individual. Enlightenment is unfoldment, not the gaining of anything." "There is no possible way of having more or being more than we have or are this instant. How could Mind?s reflection be less or more than Mind? An open mind (no rigid opinions or theories) permits Mind to demonstrate its universality or infinitude of individual consciousness. With Love (unselfed love) or Science for vision we shall see all our desires turn into fulfillment." P. 52 "When you are sick, when you play golf, or when you wash dishes, do not interfere with the perfect performance of Principle by taking thought for yourself as a do-er or a be-er. The impersonal thinking that is Principle performing is the being which includes be-er as identity and reveals Health in sickness. But do not regard your thinking, personal or impersonal, as the reason you were sick and became well. You became well because Health is what is, whether seen as sickness or health." P. 132:2 "Love is awareness experienced as imagination. Imagination is the faculty of apprehending Reality as the being of the seeming. Man apprehends and comprehends Reality because, as conscious identity or Mind action, reflection, Reality is his being. He understands the Principle of existence because understanding Principle is what he is. He understands the universe because, as consciousness or Mind, he is the universe, the whole. Do not think of imagination as invention, although that is the popular meaning of the word. Do not think of invention as the making of something. Imagination is the formative Principle functioning as Mind. The Soul-knowledge which feeds the imagination creates the image." "As Science, the man of imagination is absolutely. This means he clings to no personal opinions but is always free to let Truth give him a new one. In other words he acknowledges Truth to be the Principle in every concept. He does not regard another?s point of view as needing either rejection or acceptance. He recognizes that dissent is often more creative, more stimulating to original thinking than consent." P. 133 I was once asked by a prominent physician, "How confused can you get reading books like the CS textbook which deny the reality of substance known as matter?" I replied, "There need be no confusion if you do not read words, but let ideas unfold from your own withinness, letting your own Mind, your own being, do the reading." Naturally, Science and Health would be most confusing and contradictory if the reader should look to it as the revelation of Truth. Truth is its own revelation and unfolds from the withinness of consciousness. Science assumes and postulates that if there is life there is a Principle or Reason for existence and that the Life-Principle or Reason is Life as consciousness or Mind. "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation." P. 201 "The practice of Science is understanding -- the Soul-knowledge or unselfed love that reveals the Reality of what is seen, heard, felt. Understanding is the vision which gives value to the technique and also takes it away. Nothing you can do or say can lead to understanding.?Mind spake (function) and form appeared." Intuitions of Reality are Reality unfolding as individual consciousness. These intuitions determine the techniques or human steps we take, the books we read, the teachers we have for identity of the God-idea (our divine Self) on our belief level. Mind (God) is the Mind of all mind. It is all embracing, all constituting, Consciousness or Presence. Presence is infinite -- (p202) the universality of each individual. There is no plurality of Self or Soul. Mind is infinite individuality. It is the One, seen as many on the human belief-level. CS treatment - the discernment of the infinite One, or the conscious infinitude of existence -- moves out of the realm of prayer and thought transference. The Science of CS enables us to live in the conscious and unconscious as the Unconscious, and in that living demonstrate that 'Mind is the source and condition of all existence'".There is but one Ego, one Presence. P. 202 He who interprets radical reliance on Truth as the non-use of medicine has no Truth or his interpretation Truth is Love and is always supplying the human need on every belief-level. We have no way of knowing unless Truth and not its interpretation is our Absolute, whether the human need is for a pill or for a Christian Science treatment, or for both. Love is the discernment of Perfection, and the human footsteps which Mary Baker Eddy calls indispensable identify that fact. The power of medicine, whether seen as Christian Science treatment or a pill, is the fact coming to view that Perfection is the law. Truth or Love makes no distinction between one form of medicine or treatment and another. P. 203 When, in the evolution of consciousness, the prodigal son of Biblical lore became miserable enough in the belief of himself, he came to his senses. That which motivated his return to his father's house was the fact that he had never left. His divinity, the incarnate-God or Christ, had bewen with him, in all his wanderings, and the discovery of this fact was seen as a 'return' to Principle or a healing. The instinct to seek health, wealth, and happiness and the technique (medicine) evolving on the human belief-level for their identity, are the Health, Wealth and Happiness coming to view that is our divine Nature. P. 262 "Breath-taking demonstrations will be made when you have no God outside your own Mind -- your own understanding of the infinity of Good." "I wrote this book for my own pleasure, and I hope the reader will enjoy the demand it makes upon him to break the habit of dual thinking. It is thrilling to become aware of ideas as one does in the evolution of consciousness, and to see them take form in the imagination. When this book is read with an open mind that is without prejudice and preconceived concepts, Wisdom and Intelligence will do the reading. The reader will find that the ideas which unfold are not in the book, but from his own withinness." And the book concludes with this statement: "With Wisdom and Intelligence for your Lord and Master, you will have the solution of problems before the problems. Breath-taking demonstrations will be made when you have no God outside of your own Mind -- your own understanding of the infinity of Good."
